You paid for a website. It has been sitting there for months. The phone is silent.
The disappointment is understandable, but a website isn’t an advert — it is a shop. If nobody walks past it, nobody will come in.
1. Nobody knows it exists
The most common reason, and the least obvious one.
Check: search for your company name on Google. If it doesn’t show up, the website is invisible.
First: sign up for Search Console and submit a sitemap. It is free and takes ten minutes.
2. You don’t have a Google profile
For local services this brings in more than the website. When someone searches for “hairdresser near me”, the map shows up — not the results below it.
A profile with photos, opening hours and reviews is free, and its effect is bigger than that of any page.
3. It says what you do, not what you solve
“We offer complete solutions” means nothing to someone with a specific problem.
They search for “boiler not working Štip”, and your website says “plumbing services”. You never meet.
4. There is no content people search for
A five-page website gives you five chances to be found. Every article that answers a real question is a new door.
It is the slowest way, and the most lasting — an article written today still brings visitors two years from now.
5. People come, but they leave
If you have visitors but no calls, the problem is on the website.
Most often: slow loading (over three seconds on a phone), no clear idea of what you offer within the first five seconds, or a phone number that isn’t visible.
Check in Analytics how long they stay. Under 15 seconds means they aren’t finding what they are looking for.
6. There is no clear next step
The visitor has read the page, they are interested — and they don’t know what to do now.
Every page needs one clear action: call us, request a quote, book an appointment. Not five options — one.
7. The expectations are wrong
A website built a month ago won’t rank. Google needs time, and the competition has been there for years.
Realistically: three to six months of regular work before you see a difference in organic search.
What to do this week
- Search Console + sitemap
- Google profile — completely filled in
- A speed check on a phone
- The phone number at the top of every page, clickable
- One article that answers a real question from your clients
That is a few hours of work, and it fixes the biggest gaps on most websites.
